Belleayre Music Festival
Belleayre Conservatory Board to Re envision the Belleayre Music Festival
The Board of Directors of the Belleayre Conservatory which has presented the Belleayre Music Festival for the last 23 years, has decided to put the 2015 Festival on hiatus while it reviews opportunities for a newly envisioned Belleayre Music Festival for 2016 and beyond.
The Belleayre Music Festival has brought many Music Greats and Legends, including Ray Charles, Herbie Hancock, kd Lang, Patti LuPone, The Doobie Brothers, Charlie Daniels, Vince Gill, James Blunt, Frankie Valli, Lyle Lovett, Barbara Cook, Wynton Marsalis, Sonny Rollins, The Temps and The Tops, Creedence Clearwater, Blood Sweat and Tears and 100’s of more artists to perform in our community. The Festival was created to help establish Belleayre Mountain as a 12 month resort and be the centerpiece of its summer activities. The Conservatory has served its mission well by developing Belleayre as a cultural community asset, by contributing to the economic growth of the region and by increasing tourism activity on the Route 28 corridor.
For most of the last 23 years the Festival has been very successful financially. Recently rising artist costs and production expenses have contributed to growing shortfalls. Keeping ticket prices at an affordable level has necessitated balancing the budget through increased fundraising efforts, foundation grants and individual gifts which has become ever more difficult.
The Board has committed itself to examining the opportunities and challenges of a major entertainment entity in the Belleayre region. The Belleayre Conservatory remains positive and committed to improving arts based tourism in the Belleayre region and will continue to work and raise funds for this effort.
