BELLEAYRE MOUNTAIN SNOWSPORTS SCHOOL 2011-12
TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES FOR INSTRUCTORS
Belleayre Mountain offers all ski and snowboard instructors the opportunity to improve their personal skiing, snowboarding and teaching skills through organized clinics. These clinics are conducted by trained staff that have a specialty in one or more areas of discipline. The clinics are Sat. and Sun. mornings, 8:00am at Lift #7. Although clinic topics may change throughout the season, general topics include:
• Video Analysis
• Skiing and Snowboarding personal improvement
• Bumps Beg/Inter/Adv.
• PSIA/AASI Certification Preparation: Levels I, II, III
• Teaching Improvement
• Cause and Effect (How To Address A Problem With A Student)
Clinics are optional, however, the Snowsports Administration may at any one time, require an individual of the school to attend a specific clinic in order to improve his/her abilities. Those attending clinics on a regular basis, are recognized by the Snowsports School as taking opportunities to make improvements in their own skiing or riding and therefore, the quality of
the school as a whole.
Training Guidelines and Policy
EXAM STUDY GROUP
Study groups are formed for those instructors looking to make the step towards PSIA/AASI
Certification. Study groups usually meet on Saturdays at 4:15 PM. In most cases the group is facilitated by one of the mountain staff trainers who will help to answer and clarify any areas of concern the exam candidates may have.
Video Analysis
At various times throughout the season, instructors will be video taped while skiing/riding either required task/maneuvers or during “free” runs. Video analysis will then be conducted with the group at an agreed time allowing for all participants to view themselves on video.
