Shandaken is located in the northwest corner of Ulster County, 25 miles northwest of the City of Kingston.  The town includes the hamlets of Mount Tremper, Mount Pleasant, Phoenicia, Chichester, Woodland Valley, Allaben, Shandaken, Bushnellsville, Big Indian, Oliverea, Pine Hill and Highmount (the home of Belleayre Mountain Ski Center).

Catskill Mountains Scenic Byway

When traveling to Belleayre, you will be traveling along the Catskill Mountain Scenic Byway.  The 52-mile Catskill Mountains Scenic Byway primarily follows New York State Route 28, through the towns of Olive, Shandaken Middletown and Andes with short extensions along New York State Routes 42 and 214 - through the heart of the Central Catskills.   We invite you to wind through the Catskill Mountains on the byway that takes you on a journey through historical, scenic, and charming hamlets and villages - each unique with something special to offer. We look forward to showing you why the Catskills always feel like home.
