NYSEF RACE & FREESTYLE COMPETITIVE PROGRAMS

We are both pleased and excited to announce our new partnership with NYSEF, New York Ski Educational Foundation, for the upcoming 2018-19 season. For those of you that are unfamiliar with NYSEF, they are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides educational opportunities for children and young adults through athletic training in snowsports. The goal of NYSEF is to “provide opportunities for athletes of all ages to reach their potential in snow sports – alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, snowboarding, ski jumping, cross country skiing, Nordic combined, and biathlon – through professional guidance and financial support.”

While we have developed many programs to nurture our youth and adults at the mountain over the past years, we feel that the partnership with NYSEF will only help further provide opportunities to our athletes while providing them with a much larger support network and opportunities to develop skills and shine in their respective areas.

NYSEF has a longstanding history of success in competitive skiing at all levels including two recent Olympians, (two-time medalist) Andrew Weibrecht and Tommy Biesemeyer. In 2018, six NYSEF Alumni participated in the 2018 games in Peyong Change, Korea. NYSEF Alumni continue to compete in World Cup Circuits, on National Teams, in World Championships and more. Current NYSEF athletes are given unique opportunities to interact with these athletes and learn from them throughout the season.

We are also pleased to welcome Jim Catalano back to the mountain as the Program Director of NYSEF at Belleayre! Jim was recently the Head Coach at Hunter Mountain & Killington Mountain School. He is eager to return to Belleayre, to mentor staff and athletes.

As far as Programming on the mountain goes, Belleayre will continue to operate our Mountain Explorers program, Adult weekend workshop & Instructors-in-training programs, while NYSEF will take on the competitive programs including Competitive Freestyle, Youth Race and Adult Race Programs. NYSEF programs will go on sale mid-August and will be open for enrollment via the web at www.nysef.org. Please make sure to take the time to visit the website for more information about NYSEF and the programs that they offer.

For those of you with questions regarding the existing mountain explorers programs, we have now created a mini explorers program for the 4-6 year olds as well as programming for 7-17 year olds. The mountain explorers program will be restructured to better nurture your child’s skiing and riding skills by developing technical skills needed for a strong fundamental base and foster a lifelong love of snowsports.

We know that many of you will have questions and we look forward to hearing from you as we begin to gear up for the winter season. Take the time to view the NYSEF website and feel free to reach out with specific questions to Jim Catalano via email at jimc@nysef.org or John Norton at johnn@nysef.org.   Please keep in mind that you will receive additional information from NYSEF as we get closer to the colder months!

Thank you for your support!

We look forward to working with all of you over the 2018-19 skiing and riding season!
