SNOWSPORTS DIRECTOR

Under the direction of the Belleayre’s General Manager, the Snowsports Director is a year-round position whose primary responsibilities will be developing and supervising all of Belleayre’s skiing/riding instructional programming efforts with an emphasis on revenue generation and growing snow sports; specific attention will be made to managing profit and loss of lesson offerings while ensuring a quality lesson experience for our guests and maximizing profit.  S/he will also have responsibilities associated with promoting programs, scheduling personnel, coordinating training, checking and submitting payroll information; and supervising snow sports staff.  In addition to off-season duties related to snow sports programming and planning, the Snow Sports Director will assist with the management of the Belleayre Beach, assist with the planning and servicing of Belleayre events, and provide other off-season operational support as needed.  Typical in-season responsibilities include start-up and shut down of snow sports, planning and scheduling hiring clinics; coordinating with the marketing team to ensure proper staffing for incoming groups; and ensuring the best guest experience possible in Snowsports.  Our ideal candidate will be a seasoned ski professional who can manage a diverse group of individuals; will align and execute programming consistent with corporate goals; and has organizational skills that unify staff and create an exceptional product for guests.

Minimum qualifications: This position requires a minimum current Level II certification under PSIA or AASI and at least 5 years of experience in Snowsports school management.  The successful candidate must also have excellent verbal and written communication skills, have knowledge of Microsoft office programs and capable of learning our Siriusware Point of Sale program. We are looking for a candidate that has strong motivational skills and a vision for the future.  Knowledge of Belleayre and ORDA’s policies are pluses.

Wage:  Wage will be dependent on qualifications and experience.

LIFT OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR 

Belleayre Mountain is seeking a full-time, year-round Lift Operations Supervisor. This position is responsible for hiring, scheduling, training and supervising all Ski Lift Operators and Lift Attendants. This position is a key position assuring the safe operations of all lifts while maintaining a high level of customer service.  Safety awareness, training and enforcement at all times is a top priority. The primary goal is to lead the Lift Operations staff in maintaining a safe and efficient work environment as well as insuring that all levels of customer service and proper operations are met. They are responsible to keep thorough records for their department.  They will be working closely with snowmaking and grooming to make sure that the lifts ramps are in the safest and best condition.  This candidate will work closely with many other departments at Belleayre.  

Minimum Qualifications – Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the Lift Operations Department. Must have strong communication skills both written and verbal.  Must have good customer skills and be able to make good decisions. Must have a working knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the safe operation of the department; working knowledge of the practices, facility standards codes and regulations applicable to the department; and ability to train and supervise others with an emphasis on teamwork and productivity.

Wage – Wage will be dependent on qualifications and experience.

DEPARTMENT HEAD – Lift Maintenance

 

Belleayre Mountain, located in the Catskill and home to New York’s first chair lift, is seeking a full-time, year round Department Head to be in charge of Lift Maintenance.  Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: overseeing and assisting in the repair of electrical/mechanical components of ski lifts while at the same time ensuring the safety of both employees and guests; interacting with operations staff giving instructions in safe and proper operational procedures; monitoring daily operations of lifts; operating heavy equipment and all-terrain vehicles; and troubleshooting lift malfunctions. The candidate will act as a working supervisor and is be responsible for overall safety of the Lift Maintenance department; estimating repair and maintenance costs; generating materials lists; ordering and maintaining tools and supplies; efficiently managing a crew; tracking progress; communicating with outside vendors; and communicating with Management directly and via e mail.

This individual must also work closely with and assist other various departments at Belleayre.  The Lift Maintenance Department Supervisor reports directly to the Mountain Manager.

Minimum Qualifications – Completion of apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience in ski lift maintenance plus two years of relevant experience.  Minimum of one year of supervisory experience also required. Ability to climb towers 60’ in height; ability to lift 50-75 lbs. repeatedly.  Working knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the safe operation of the department; working knowledge of the practices, facility standards codes and regulations applicable to the department; ability to prepare oral and written reports; and ability to train and supervise others with an emphasis on teamwork and productivity

Wage - Grade 16 entry rate $22.12 per hour, plus benefits as defined under the labor agreement with CSEA.

SNOWSPORTS INSTRUCTORS - SKI & SNOWBOARD
Do you have impressive skills skiing or riding? Love working with people? The Snowsports Team could be for you, where you'll teach both children and adults to ski and snowboard. Knowledge of skiing/riding and ski slopes needed. Instructor Training Course (ITC) is required for all new hires.     

LIFT OPERATORS & LIFT ATTENDANTS
Assist guests with safe, efficient and courteous loading and unloading of lifts. Attendants are responsible for maintaining ramps as well as scanning season passes and lift tickets.  Knowledge of Belleayre a plus. 

SNOWMAKERS
As a Snowmaker you'll check snowmaking equipment (valves, water lines, etc.) and reposition snow guns on the mountain. Enjoy the bragging rights that YOU play an integral part in why the trails are so awesome at Belleayre. On-site training available.

ELECTRICIAN - HIGH VOLTAGE
An electrician works to install, maintain and control electrical components. Use your skills to analyze, diagnose and resolve electrical problems on the mountain.  You will also ensure the safe and proper installation of lighting and other electrically operated devices.

SNOW REPORTER
As a snow reporter, you get to be the voice of the mountain.  That, of course, may mean first tracks on a powder day!  Responsibilities include updating & distributing the daily snow reporting across several outlets, video shoots as an on-camera personality, be pretty good with a camera, and most importantly be a morning person. Working knowledge of photo and video editing software is needed.  

TICKET SELLERS
Have you been told you're a people person? Well that's what we are looking for in our ticket sellers! Sell lift tickets, season passes, frequent skier products and lessons; answer phones, and rock your excellent customer service skills. Position requires knowledge of computers.

RESERVATIONS
Love the outdoors but looking to work inside? We have that too! Reservationists are responsible for booking group sales, group lessons, private lessons and other packages for individuals over the phone or in person with guests. Must be detail-oriented, have a personable phone demeanor and will require to work on the front-line.

DAY CARE/NURSERY STAFF
Spend your day playing with our little tiger cubs! Nursery staff assists with childcare from 6 months to 6 years while parents hit the slopes. Skiing/riding not required (but a plus) but may be required to take children outside.

KIDSCAMP CAREGIVERS
Caregivers help assist with kiddos enrolled in the Kidscamp program.  Duties include help get the children ready to go out on snow, escort kids in and out of the building to designated teaching areas, help serve lunch and snacks at breaks, and possibly be on snow with lessons.  Skiing/riding is not required for this position.

TERRAIN PARK ATTENDANTS/PARK CREW
"Crew" being the main word here! Spend your winter building and maintaining the terrain park features where all the shredding magic happens. You'll also work with mountain operations. Knowledge of skiing/riding and ski slopes needed.

GROOMERS
Groom trails and operate snowcats, primarily at night. Heavy equipment experience preferred, knowledge of skiing/riding and ski slopes needed.

PARKING ATTENDANTS
Give our guests a warm welcome while assisting them with instructions for parking. Other duties include: keeping parking areas clean and orderly.

BUILDING MAINTENANCE
Assist with keeping our buildings in tip-top shape for our guests. Job duties include: janitorial work, cleaning lodges and snow removal.

SHUTTLE BUS OPERATORS 
Transport our guests from parking lots to Lodges. Must have a valid driver license with a minimum of CDL Class B.

MOUNTAIN HOSTS (Ambassadors)
Mountain hosts provide service in a variety of areas including greeting and providing information to guests, assist with special events on and off the snow, greeting group tour buses, and administering guest surveys.  The most important jobs our mountain hosts have are to send the Belleayre guests off with a smile on their face and to help them have a great experience on the mountain.  This is a non-paid position and all members must complete 100 hours per season.
