Adaptive Lessons

Overview

At this time we are able to accommodate adaptive lessons for students who do not need adaptive equipment.  We book these lessons on a case-by-case basis depending on the needs of the guest.

Everyone participating in one of our snowsports programs must complete a lesson waiver.

The Belleayre Adaptive Snowsports Program is for adults and children with cognitive, physical, and emotional disabilities who want to learn how to ski and snowboard. The Belleayre Snowsports staff provides instruction to help each individual reach their highest potential by empowering individuals with disabilities. Lessons range from “Never-Ever” to the advanced skier or snowboarder. No matter your ability we will match you up with one of our expert instructors.

Lift ticket, lesson, and rental equipment are included in the price. The duration of the lesson is typically two hours, depending on the student.

Note:  Due to the changes we have had to implement and our ability to provide the best introduction to snowsports experience, we will not be accepting new students this season.  If you are a returning student and want to make a reservation, please give our reservation department a call at 845.254.6245

Lesson Information

Due to the high demand for lessons, reservations are a MUST and all students have to complete an Adaptive Intake Form. The intake form gives us all the important information we need to match you up with the best instructor and only needs to be submitted once a year. To make your reservation, please call our reservation department at 845-254-6245.

All Adaptive Lessons will begin and end in the Adaptive Center, located on the ground floor at the Discovery Lodge. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of your lesson. Allow extra time for traffic, weather, parking, and check-in.

First-time students will get an overview of the equipment, fittings, and set up with equipment which takes approximately 1 hour to complete. Returning students will be fitted with equipment and be on the snow for approximately 2 hours, if capable. The Snowsports School Director, Adaptive Snowsports Director, or Supervisor has the right to cancel any lesson if, in their opinion, the student’s present conditions would present an unreasonable risk to the student and/or snow conditions would do the same. The Adaptive Program Director makes the determination of the instructor’s requirements.

On occasion, we will have a last-minute cancellation and will be able to accommodate a walk-in guest. However, the best way to ensure there is an instructor available for you is to make a reservation in advance.

Cancellation Policy

• All purchases are final.
• Participant must be within the specified Lesson/Program age range (as listed on website) at the start of the Lesson/Program.
• Reservations cancellations made more than 72 hours before the scheduled start date incur a cancellation fee: $15 for adult/youth group lessons and $45 for private lessons. The remaining balance will be refunded to the original form of payment.
• Reservations cancelled within 72 hours of the start date are non-refundable. Instead, you will receive a credit for the full value of your reservation minus a cancellation fee ($15 for adult/youth group lessons and $45 for private lessons) towards the same Lesson/Program on another day. Credit requests must be submitted by the close of business on the day before the scheduled lesson. Credits are valid for one year from the issue date.
• Cancellation fees will apply per person/ per reservation/ per activity.
• No refunds or credits will be issued for cancellations made on the day of the scheduled lesson.
• A refund or credit will NOT be issued if a participant arrives late for their lesson start time.
