Full Time Year Round Positions

General Mechanic

Belleayre Mountain, an ORDA managed facility, is seeking a full-time, year-round General Mechanic. General Mechanics perform skilled and semi-skilled work in the repair and maintenance of facility equipment. The ideal candidate will have an advanced skill level and supervisory experience so s/he may act in a supervisory capacity in the absence of the department head. General responsibilities include focusing on safety in the performance of skilled mechanical work in automotive repair, maintenance, and overhaul of gasoline and diesel-powered self-propelled and non-self-propelled equipment. This person may also perform routine maintenance/construction and will be expected to engage in other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Four years’ full-time experience under a skilled journeyman equivalent to that of an apprenticeship program or successful completion of technical courses in a trade or technical institute and a minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a journeyman level General Mechanic. A valid NYS driver’s license is required. Snowcat maintenance experience preferred but not required.

Wage: Dependent upon skills and experience. ORDA offers an excellent benefits package including paid leave (vacation, holiday, sick and personal time); participation in the NYS and Local Retirement Systems; health, dental, and vision insurances; and optional participation in the NYS Deferred Compensation Plan.

Electrician

Belleayre Mountain an ORDA managed facility, located in Highmount NY is seeking an electrician. The successful candidate will be involved with electrical service; troubleshooting, repair, installation of electrical and systems and equipment including medium voltage distribution; low voltage controls; buildings; ski lifts; voice and data communications, using electrical power from milliamps to 15.8 kV. This person will report to the Electrical Department Supervisor and must be familiar with the electrical code. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required as this person will communicate with vendors on technical information for troubleshooting and repair. Must be able to read and interpret machinery documentation, including prints and schematics, acquiring parts.

Qualifications: Minimum of four years’ practical experience and/or documented completion of technical courses and a valid driver’s license.

Pay Rate: Compensation – Wage dependent upon qualifications; benefits per CSEA / ORDA contract.

Lift Operators & Lift Attendants

Assist guests with safe, efficient, and courteous loading and unloading of lifts. Attendants are responsible for maintaining ramps as well as scanning season passes and lift tickets. Knowledge of Belleayre a plus.

Snowmakers

As a Snowmaker you’ll check snowmaking equipment (valves, water lines, etc.) and reposition snow guns on the mountain. Enjoy the bragging rights that YOU play an integral part in why the trails are so awesome at Belleayre. On-site training available.

Parking Attendants

Give our guests a warm welcome while assisting them with instructions for parking. Other duties include: keeping parking areas clean and orderly.

Building Maintenance

Assist with keeping our buildings in tip-top shape for our guests. Job duties include janitorial work, cleaning lodges, and snow removal.

Shuttle Bus Operators

Transport our guests from parking lots to Lodges. Must have a valid driver’s license with a minimum of CDL Class B.

Security

The security department is responsible for the safety of employees, guests, and the property. Security patrols the grounds, intervene in situations with guests, staff, and others as necessary, and assist in all money movement throughout and outside of the resort.  Positions include overnight from 12:00 am (midnight) to 8:30 am.

Mountain Hosts (Ambassadors)

Mountain hosts provide service in a variety of areas including greeting and providing information to guests, assist with special events on and off the snow, greeting group tour buses, and administering guest surveys. The most important jobs our mountain hosts have been to send the Belleayre guests off with a smile on their face and to help them have a great experience on the mountain. This is a non-paid position and all members must complete 100 hours per season.

Lifeguards Wanted at the Belleayre Beach

Lifeguards

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum age is 16.
  2. At the time of employment, all candidates must possess current certifications in American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer (or the equivalent) and the American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguarding Certificate (or the equivalent). Also, American Red Cross First Aid (or equivalent) if not included in the lifeguard training course. All certifications must remain current throughout the entire operating season. Candidates may participate in the lifeguard qualifying procedure without the above certifications; however, they must be provided before employment begins.
  3. As per the Agency standard, lifeguard candidates must meet the vision requirement of 20/70 uncorrected vision in both eyes and be correctable to the 20/40 standard.
