Lift Maintenance Department Supervisor
Job Summary:
Reporting to the General Manager and Operations Manager, the Lift Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficient operation of all lifts at Belleayre Mountain. This position oversees the maintenance, inspection, and repair of aerial lifts and conveyors in accordance with all applicable rules, regulations, and industry standards. The Lift Maintenance Supervisor is also responsible for supervising, scheduling, and supporting the Lift Maintenance staff while promoting a strong culture of safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise Lift Mechanics in preventative maintenance programs and special projects.
- Prepare chairlifts daily for safe and efficient operational use.
- Complete all required departmental maintenance logs, inspection forms, and record keeping documentation.
- Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment in clean, organized, and proper working conditions.
- Shovel lifts and walkways and de-ice towers as necessary to ensure safe operations.
- Safely operate various over-the-snow and wheeled vehicles.
- Attend all required on-site and off-site lift maintenance training as assigned by management.
- Inspect and monitor fluid levels, belts, tires, terminals, and other lift components.
- Operate all ski lifts safely and efficiently.
- Rebuild and replace sheaves as required.
- Perform fixed grip maintenance and carrier inspections.
- Install and maintain sheave wheels.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical lift system issues.
- Maintain extensive knowledge of terminals, stations, and tension systems.
- Check and adjust alignment in motor gearboxes.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and oversee replacement of brake systems and related components.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of lift splicing procedures, including splice types, requirements, tolerances, inspections, end connections, tensioning forces, rigging plans, hydraulic rigging, track cable relocation, quality assurance, and documentation.
- Measure, adjust, and align detachable lift mechanisms.
- Perform lift line inspections and adjust tower rope alignment as needed.
- Properly adjust guide sheave heights.
- Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) on detachable grips and carriers.
- Lead and manage Lift Mechanics, including scheduling, training, supervision, hiring, and performance management.
- Participate in lift electrical emergency procedures and time-sensitive repairs.
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies in accordance with New York State purchasing standards.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and maximize reliability.
- Coordinate with manufacturers and outside service providers for specialized maintenance and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to lift maintenance and operation.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, and regulatory compliance documentation.
- Stay current on industry advancements, technologies, and best practices in lift maintenance.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of lift systems to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Create Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) for departmental tasks and projects.
- Complete employee incident reports and Root Cause Analyses (RCA) in a timely manner.
- Prepare annual departmental budgets and assist in planning off-season capital improvement projects.
- Conduct daily safety meetings with department staff.
- Maintain a full understanding of safety procedures, including use of work carriers and lockout/tagout protocols.
- Report potential mechanical lift issues promptly to management.
- Maintain a professional and positive working relationship with Lift Operations staff and other departments.
- Oversee maintenance and repair of all surface and aerial lifts, including visual chair inspections and regular inspection of all lift system components.
- Conduct line checks to inspect sheaves, bearings, liners, and related components for wear or damage.
- Conduct drive station inspections, including machinery, fluid levels, brake systems, and hoses.
- Conduct return station inspections, including carriage systems, guide sheaves, counterweight systems, bull-wheels, and liners.
- Diagnose mechanical problems, plan repairs, complete corrective actions, and document all work performed.
- Maintain written logs and records of all maintenance and repair activities.
- Maintain accountability for departmental tools, equipment, and shop areas.
- Work with DOL to set up regular inspections for lifts.
- Execute off-season preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs to ensure lifts pass annual New York State Department of Labor inspections.
- Support other operational departments as needed.
- Follow and enforce all ORDA safety procedures and correct identified hazards.
- Ensure departmental staff are properly trained and capable of safely performing assigned duties.
- Document employee performance and address performance deficiencies as necessary.
- Represent the Lift Maintenance Department at operational and planning meetings to support communication and collaboration across departments.
- Other Job Duties and responsibilities as assigned by management
Skills and Qualifications:
- Must be a journey-level mechanic with a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of lift mechanical and electrical systems.
- Experience working on lift electrical systems and the ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair abilities.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work at heights of up to 100+ feet and perform duties in elevated work environments.
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme and changing weather conditions.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and emergency call-ins as operational needs require.
- Must be able to shift schedules to accommodate groups on different dates, and for summer and fall operations.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize assigned tasks.
- Must be computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications preferred.
- Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and team management skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all ORDA safety policies and procedures.
Wage/Salary:
This position is identified as a Grade 19 on the ORDA/CSEA schedule with an entry rate of $31.83 per hour. General Building & Maintenance Technician – HVAC/Plumbing/Water
General:
The General Building & Maintenance Technician- HVAC/Plumbing is responsible for performing routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance across plumbing, sewer, HVAC, mechanical, building, and grounds systems. This position supports safe, efficient facility operations and responds to maintenance needs and emergencies as they arise. This position reports to the Area & Building Maintenance Supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plumbing & Sewer Systems
- Perform routine and corrective maintenance on plumbing systems, including toilets, sinks, valves, fixtures, piping, and drains
- Diagnose and clear clogged toilets, drains, and sewer lines using appropriate tools and methods
- Repair leaks, replace fixtures, gaskets, valves, and fittings as needed
- Monitor water systems for proper operation and report larger system failures or conditions requiring licensed trade work
- Assist with maintenance of sewer infrastructure and related pump or drainage systems
- Monitor septic and schedule pump outs
HVAC & Mechanical Systems
- Operate, monitor, and perform basic maintenance on HVAC systems, including boilers, furnaces, air handlers, unit heaters, exhaust fans, and associated controls
- Perform filter changes, belt replacements, lubrication, and visual inspections of HVAC equipment
- Assist with troubleshooting heating and ventilation issues and support licensed HVAC technicians when required
- Monitor system performance to ensure safe operation and occupant comfort
General Facilities & Grounds
- Preform general building maintenance to include general carpentry work, painting, finishing and other repair and preventative maintenance tasks.
- Conduct snow removal operations including shoveling, plowing, salting, and ice control
- Perform seasonal operations including winterizing and opening/closing beach facilities
- Maintain grounds, including weed-whacking and clearing vegetation around water stations and infrastructure
- Work alongside electrician and other building maintenance staff
- Respond to maintenance service requests and emergency situations
- Identify safety hazards and take corrective action
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe and working conditions
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in building maintenance, facilities operations, or related trade work
- Working knowledge of plumbing, HVAC systems, and general maintenance practices
- Ability to operate maintenance and snow removal equipment safely
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently or as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license
- Valid Water Operators License or obtain license within 18 months of hire
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 lbs
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions

Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic
General:
The Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic is part of the Garage Team, reporting to the Garage Supervisor. The Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability and performance of Belleayre’s fleet by monitoring, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of Diesel and gasoline powered equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair diesel- and gasoline-powered equipment.
- Conduct regular visual inspections and perform repairs as needed.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, including oil changes and servicing in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.
- Complete regular equipment checks, including fluid levels, brake systems, hoses, and other mechanical components; repair or replace as necessary.
- Diagnose reported mechanical issues, determine root causes, and plan and execute appropriate repairs.
- Perform minor adjustments and replace worn or damaged parts.
- Maintain accurate written logs and records of all inspections, maintenance, and repair work performed.
- Ensure all equipment is safe, operable, and meets required inspection and safety standards.
- Maintain accountability and organization of tools, equipment, and shop work areas.
- Provide support to other operational departments as requested.
- Follow and contribute to all safety procedures and protocols; identify and report hazards promptly.
- Perform miscellaneous support tasks assigned by the Garage Supervisor in support of the overall functions and operational needs of the Garage Department
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to safely operate large machinery.
- Prior mechanical experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to work in a loud, active work environment.
- Position requires a flexible schedule, including weekends, early morning shifts, late shifts, and occasional call-ins at any hour as operational needs require.
- Must possess a current, valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently on assigned tasks.
Wage/Salary:
This position is classified as a Grade 16 to 17 on the CSEA/Olympic Authority’s Hourly Compensation Schedule, which carries an entry rate of $24.97 per hour up to $26.89 per hour pending experience. Electrician
Job Summary:
Belleayre, an ORDA managed facility, is seeking a full-time, year-round electrician. The successful candidate will be involved with electrical service; troubleshooting, repair, installation of electrical and systems and equipment including medium voltage distribution; low voltage controls; buildings; ski lifts; voice and data communications, using electrical power from milliamps to 15.8 kV.
Belleayre Mountain, located in the heart of the Catskills, is home to New York State’s first chair lift. Skiers and riders from the New York and Tri-State areas have access to 1,404 feet of vertical drop where they can enjoy 63 alpine trails and 9.2 kilometers of cross-country ski trails. Recent improvements include snowmaking improvements, summit beginner area. Ongoing improvement plans include additional lodge expansion and renovations, and snowmaking upgrades.
Work is performed on-site at Belleayre Mountain in all weather conditions. Weekend and Holiday work will be required as will work outside the normal workday as is necessary to fulfill obligations.
Essential Duties (this list is not exhaustive):
- Understanding and applying blueprints and technical diagrams
- Using various devices, including ammeters, voltmeters, thermal scanners and cable testers, as well as hand and power tools
- Installing or replacing wiring, lighting, electrical controls, breakers and other electrical devices
- Inspecting and maintaining electrical systems around the venue
- Adhering to state and local building regulations
- Prepare and adhere to yearly budgets.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be familiar with the electrical code. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required as this person will communicate with vendors on technical information for troubleshooting and repair. Must be able to read and interpret machinery documentation, including prints and schematics, acquiring parts. Minimum of four years’ practical experience and/or documented completion of technical courses and a valid driver’s license.

Minimum Qualifications:
Four years of full-time experience under a skilled journeyman mechanic/electrician which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprentice program. Apprentice training in mechanics/electrical or training gained by completion of technical courses in mechanics/electrical at a school or technical institute may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Knowledge of Doppelmayr lifts/operations. Knowledge in low voltage, reading and electric diagrams. Ability to work in all weather conditions. Applicants must possess a valid current driver’s License. Ability to work comfortably at heights.

Essential Duties (this list is not exhaustive):
- Maintain, repair, operate and clean lift equipment under the direction of the Lift Department Supervisor
- During operating season execute routine lift checks for any existing or potential problems, and plan maintenance and repair. Daily checks include but are not limited to the following:
- Visually inspect chairs
- Line checks: check sheaves for problems such as bad bearings, liner wear, flat spots
- Drive checks: check all machinery and mechanical parts of the drive station, including fluid levels, brake pads, and hoses
- Return checks: check carriage, guide sheaves, counterweight cables, height of counterweight, return bull-wheel, and liner
- Conduct necessary minor adjustments, preventive maintenance, and repair or replace worn/broken parts
- When mechanical problems are reported, locate and diagnose problems, and plan and perform necessary repairs, and report/document all issues and repairs
- Maintain written logs and records of all maintenance and repair work done
- Maintain accountability for tools, equipment and shop work areas
- Execute off-season preventative maintenance and repair:
- Conduct safety inspections and identify needs for maintenance and repair
- Correct issues identified
- Ensure lift are safe and operable for the upcoming season and will pass annual New York State Department of Labor inspection
- Maintain written logs and records of all maintenance and repair work done
- Maintain accountability for tools, equipment and shop work area
- Provide support to other operational departments as requests

- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Current US driver’s license with an acceptable driving record in order to operate ATV’s, snowmobiles and automobiles/trucks is required. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Other Considerations: Should be a self-motivator who is able to work independently on assigned tasks as well work cooperatively as a member of the lift maintenance team.
Wage: The entry rate is $21.54/hr. at a Grade 14 under the current CSEA Contract. Wage consideration is given for advanced skills and experience: the effective rate for individuals with 3 years of mechanical/electrical experience or prior lift operations experience is $24.97/hr. at Grade 16 under the current CSEA Contract. - Overseeing crews responsible for grooming, construction, operation, and maintenance of various trails
- Providing status reports
- Create staffing schedules and daily assignments

- Providing executional and maintenance support to the trail maintenance department
- Race and event support; and interacting with clients, partners, and guests.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in trail grooming.
- 1+ years of supervisory experience
- Passion and professional skills in trail grooming and trail maintenance.
- Valid NYS driver license.
